Abstract

A retrospective study of 23 cases of granulosa cell tumor of the ovary was made. Initlally they were studied Immunohistochemically for the presence of epitelial membrane antigen and cytokeratin. No tumor of typical histology showed expression for these antibodies. Three tumors showed positive reactions and were classified as undifferentiated epithelial neplasia, corresponding to their significantiy poorer prognosis and shorter survival when compared with the granulosa cell tumors. Then the clinic and pathological features are analised only In those case what confirmed for the histological or immuno-histochemical study. Abdominal pain was the most common presenting sympton and only 50% showed symptoms of estrogen stimulation. Histologically they didn’t differ from those have been related. Large tumors probably have no significant Influence on prognosis. Of 12 examined endometria the most common findings was endometrial hyperplasia. Surgery was the primary treatment of choise. Adjuvant or complementar therapy were discussed.
