Resumo

Os progressos técnicos obtidos na primeira metade deste século, facilitando a indução química de tumores cutâneos em diversos animais experimentais, permitiram que se avançasse no estudo dos mecanismos biológicos envolvidos na carcinogênese. A pele de camundongo tem uma longa história como modelo vantajoso para esse tipo de pesquisa e as informações que se têm adquirido através do esclarecimento dos eventos que ocorrem durante a carcinogênese cutânea experimental indicam que o processo consiste de múltiplas etapas. As pesquisas mais recentes, que associam os modelos clássicos com fatores modificadores de processos químicos, têm elucidado alguns eventos essenciais para a carcinogênese.
