Incidência de Neoplasia Maligna em Nódulo Solitário da Tireóide

Os autores realizaram um estudo de 272 bócios nodulares solitários da tireóide, diagnosticados e tratados com confirmação histopatológica. Serviço de Cirurgia de Cabeça e Pescoço do instituto Nacional do Câncer-RJ. A experiência, contudo, demonstrou ser baixa a ocorrência de carcinomas nestes módulos (13,2%), rotineiramente ressecados em muitos Serviços, mostrando que há necessidade de melhor seleção dos pacientes na indicação cirúrgica. Acreditam que não existem dúvidas sobre a eficácia da associação de dados clínicos, cintilografia, ultra-sonografia, terapia de supressão e citologia da biópsia de aspiração na seleção cirúrgica dos pacientes com nódulos solitários da tireóide.
