Resumo

Os componentes minerais dos sêres vivos, se bem que em menor concentração quando relacionados aos componentes orgânicos, possuem funções específicas de grande importância na formação estrutural de vários tecidos e nos fenômenos indispensáveis à economia celular. A importância dêsses componentes inorgânicos vem sendo ressaltada nos últimos anos quando técnicas mais adequadas permitem aos especialistas maior precisão e maior sensibilidade nas análises qualitativa e quantitativa e, principalmente, no estudo funcional dêsses elementos. É nosso intento, na presente publicação, resumir os conceitos atuais sobre as principais funções biológicas de cada um desses elementos e apresentar alguns resultados que conseguimos obter com apenas um ano de trabalho.
