Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The article must be original and cannot be simultaneously under review or published by another journal. The submission of preprint articles is accepted, as long as the information is registered in the submission form and copyright with the DOI generated.
  • Use Microsoft Word to write your article.
  • Complete and send the FORM AND COPYRIGHT AND SUBMISSION STATEMENT.
  • Refer to Instructions for Authors for formatting and bibliographic guidelines.
  • Given the rising relevance of research data and its acknowledgment as original intellectual contribution, the datasets related to the documents should be referenced in the manuscripts, a mandatory condition for the article to be published at SciELO.

    In the context of tagging and publication of documents, datasets are a structured research-associated collection of data and encompass every type of data supporting the document submitted or approved for publication in addition to documentation that facilitate the evaluation of the research, reproduction of the results and reutilization of the research data.

    Attention: This type of data is not supplementary material, since supplementary material is not critical for the understanding, reproduction and reutilization of the article.

Instructions for submission

The Revista Brasileira de Cancerologia (RBC) follows the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) available in English and Portuguese – known as Vancouver Citing and Referencing Style – and publication ethics found in Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available at: http://publicationethics.org/

Submit to RBC through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform your complete manuscript with tables, graphs, figures and images (b&w or color) further to the Submission Form and Copyright Statement and checklist. Articles in Portuguese, English or Spanish are accepted for publication.

The RBC does not charge the author any fees for submission, publication and translation of articles into English.

Resubmit the article, if rejected, adding the number of the article the system created initially. Resubmission will be accepted only after two months at least from the date it was rejected with a letter addressed to the Editor, listing the changes suggested and accepted and justification if unaccepted. Update bibliographic references.

Responsibility of the Authors

Manuscripts must be solely for exclusive publication by RBC, must not be published simultaneously with other journals or been published previously by any of them, but articles deposited as preprint are accepted. Author(s) are exclusively responsible for the ideas and opinions stated, their accuracy and origin of the citations. No redundant publications will be accepted.

The main author should ensure the registration of all the authors at the OJS platform.

The author must present authorization of reproduction of tables and illustrations of the article published by other authors and/or in other vehicles signed by the copyrights holders.

The author (s) must state in the submission form and attach a copy of the material for the Editor’s review had the manuscript been in great part published by another journal or in preprint  or is partially contained or closely related to other manuscript submitted or accepted for publication in another journal.

Had part of the manuscript been submitted earlier, in a symposium, congress, etc. please report in a footnote in the front page together with a copy of the early submission.The publication in a preprint base should also be informed mandatorily with the respective indication and DOI number.

Beyond any doubt, the author may grant the access to all the contents (data, programming codes and other materials) subjacent to the article’s text, informing if they are already included in the manuscript, if they will be available when published or since when and in which repository they are already available, either on-demand by the reviewers or deny the access and justify the decision.

The authors hold the copyright and give the right of the first publication to the journal simultaneously licensed by Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0), to share their articles with acknowledgment of authorship and initial publication by this journal. All published articles will have DOI numbers.

Names and addresses informed in the Journal will be used exclusively for publication purposes and will not be disclosed otherwise or to third parties.
