O Valor das Microcalcificações Agrupadas no Diagnóstico Precoce do Câncer da Mama

The authors report 28 cases of clustered microcalciflcations on mammographic views. The lesions were surgicaly removed by using a previous stereotactic localization. The X-rays showed calcifications in all the specimens. The semi-serial sections of all calcified areas and the histologic examination showed: carcinoma, 8 cases (28,5%); atypical epithelial hiperplasy, 5 cases (17,8%); fat necrosis, 1 case; fibroadenoma, 1 case; and fibrocistic disorders, 13 cases. Five carcinomas were infiitranting and 3 ductal carcinomas without infiltration. The authors conclude that the patients with clustered microcalcifications on mammographic views have to take surgical excision, having in mind the rise incidence (46,3%) of malignancy and atypical epitelial hiperplasy.
