Abstract

Although primary adenocarcinoma of esophagus being a rare disease, its incidence seems to increase during the last years. The hypotheses that best explaín its etiopathogeny are glandular meta plasia, embryological remnant of mucosa, ectopic gastric mucosa and degeneration of esophageal submucosa islands. The only possibility of cure is by an early diagnosis and oncologic resection. We present a case of an early esophageal adenocarcinoma. The lesion arised from the malignant degeneration of esophageal glands. The surgical resection was curative.
