The authors presents a case of woman 55 years old that showed medullary carcinoma of the thyroid associated with an autonomously functioning nodule. She devellopped a pulmonary metastase with radioiodine uptake; subsequently was treated successful with 176mCi of 131-1. Despite the rarity of this association, they suggests that not nodules must have a surgical approach and the treatment with radioiodine must be considered as an alternativa in metastases that uptakes 131-1.
