Distribución por etapas clínicas al diagnóstico del cáncer bucal en Cuba - 1982 – 1988

A descriptive epidemiologic study was conductedto know the behaviour over the time of the stage distribution of oral cancer cases, using data from the National Cancer Registry of Cuba in the time-period from 1982 to 1988. Not even a provinco achieved 50% of cases in stages 0 and 1 before the implementation of the National Program to Early Diagnosis of Oral Cancer (1986). After this date, an increasing of the percentage of cases in the earliest stages was observed in the whole country (except Havana City and Santiago de Cuba). Although a high percentage of cases continue being reported without staging, the increment of number of cases in the earliest stages will permit to increase the cura bility indexes of the oral cavity.
