The authors pointed out the importance of the classification of LAUREN for epithelial tumors of the stomach. Such classification is currently being used by the epidemiologists, trying to correlate the histological type with the etiologic factors in gastric cancer. The paper also includes the study of 181 surgical specimens classified according to Laurén, mention also being made about the most recent articles on this subject.
