Bases da Nomenclatura e Classificação dos Tumores

Without an analysis of the essential and subsidiary - criteria for the classification and denomination of tumors, it is very difficult to try any uniformization of the oncological nomenclature. Due to the complexity of the problem, only an analytical nomenclature, similar to that of organic chemistry, could be easily understood by any physician, student, researcher or Cibrarian. This nomenclature would be represented by isolated words discriminating, from the general to the specil, - at least in the neolatin languages - all features of a tumor: general pathological process, histogenesis and behaviour, as for example: Tumor of mesenchymal adipose tissue of malignant behaviour (malignant adipose mesenquimal tumor) = lipossarcoma. While their is no possibility of employment the analytical nomenclature, it would be advisable to follow the present nomenclature, which is synthetical - analytical, eliminating, however, the terms without histological or histogenetic significance.
