Abstract

A descriptive epidemiologic study was performed to measure the ratio of attendance of patients remmited by the dentists to the maxio surgeons and those who were really seen by the surgeons. Data from the National Program to Early Diagnosis of Oral Cancer were studied by provinces in the time-period from 1986 to 1990. A considerable proportion of the remmited patients (71.6%) did not attend to the specialist to receive treatment and follow-up. Only the provinces Villa Clara, Granma and Ciego de Avila showed increasing trends. These features indicate falls in the rescueting of cases.
