Guidelines for Reviewers

GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPTS REVIEWS

1. Check the category of the manuscript:

  • Original Article - Quantitative
  • Original Article - Qualitative
  • Original Article - Mixed
  • Systematic Review of the Literature
  • Integrative Review of the Literature
  • Case Series/Report
  • Opinion pieces

2. Ensure the following ethical standards are met:

       (1) Plagiarism.
       (2) Duplicate publication.
       (3) Fraud.
       (4) IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval or if it was waived.
       (5) Application of Informed Consent Form (ICF) if needed.

3. Determine the relevance of the article: high, medium or low. 

4. Requirements to be met while reviewing the article:

       (1) Contribution to improve cancer control in Brazil.
       (2) Title matched to the text.
       (3) Clarity of the justification of the study, description of the objectives and relevance.
       (4) Comprehensiveness, pertinence and relevance with current literature review.
       (5) Method matched to the study objectives.
       (6) Description of materials and methods utilized.
       (7) Data analysis consistent with the study design and objectives.
       (8) Rigor and clarity of the results.
       (9) Discussion and conclusion consistent with the study development and findings.
       (10) References reflect the content, updated and pertinent to the theme and meeting the Journal’s rules.
       (11) Text well drafted, accurate and appropriate with logical sequence and correct vocabulary.
       (12) Tables and figures contribute for the understanding of the text and global quality of the study.
       (13) Maximum of five tables and figures in total.
       (14) Make sure the abstract reflects the text.

5. Register the report about the manuscript in the Open Journal Systems (OJS):

       Accept.
       Mandatory corrections.
       Resubmit for evaluation.
       Submit to another journal.
       Reject.

6. Inform in the respective space:

Comments to the author and editor, attach the report if applicable.

Comments to the editor alone, informing if the review is double-anonymous or disclose your identity.
