Tratamento do Câncer de Cabeça e Pescoço Localmente Avançado com Quimioterapia Pré-Operatória ou Pré-Radioterapia

Os autores analisam os 25 casos considerados avaliáveis, dos 51 incluídos no estudo, nos quais se utilizou quimioterapia com cisplatinum, mitomicina-C e bleomicina, em esquema ambulatorial, em pacientes virgens de tratamento. Obteve-se 4% de resposta completa (RC), 64% de resposta parcial (RP), 20% de estabilização da doença (ED) e 12% de sem resposta (SR). A sobrevida média dos casos que obtiveram resposta objetiva (RC+RP) foi de 8,2 meses, que foi igual à encontrada no grupo que ná0 respondeu satisfatoriamente (ED+SR). A sobrevida de um grupo-controle histórico submetido apenas à radioterapia e/ou cirurgia foi de 8,8 meses. A diferença não foi significativa.
