A autor inicialmente define câncer avançado da mama, discutindo a seguir as diversas formas de tratamento. Em relação ao tratamento cirúrgico, contra-indica as operações radicais, esquematizando as de caráter paliativo. Considera a radioterapia, como o melhor tratamento para as metástases isoladas, havendo entretanto outras indicações em que seu emprego é justificado. Ressalta a importância do tratamento geral da paciente visando à correção dos desvios carenciais e metabólicos oriundos da presença do tumor. Na terapêutica hormonal. são comentados separadamente, as modalidades supressiva e aditiva, expondo o autor igualmente, os novos critérios de dependência, baseados na determinação de sexo morfológico nuclear das células tumorais. Finalizando, discute o emprego dos quimioterápicos, com breve comentário sobre as substâncias atualmente empregadas.
