Changes on the epidemiology of several cancers has been noticed over the last years, mainly due to new carcinogenics introduced in foods, drinks, and the environment. Nevertheless, in recente years, in the medical literature of our country, there is no study related to the epidemiology of laryny cancer. This paper presents a retrospective assessment of 205 patients operated of cancer of larynx in cancer centers of Belo Horizonte - MG. These patients were distributed into two groups: Group 1 - those treated from 1979 to 1981 (N = 41), and Group 2 - those treated from 1990 1992 (N = 164). No epidemologic difference was found between these groups concerning age, sex, skin color, origin and profession. In conclusion, lhe results suggest that the epidemiology of laryny cancer has not been changed since 1979, according these demographic data.
