52 year-old patient submitted to an ortothopic heart transplant on May, 1991 had epidermoid carcinoma of the tonsil in the foi/o w-up. The flrst diagnosis was metastatic squamous carcinoma of the neck with unknown primary tumor because the carcinoma of the tonsil was only detected six months after the disco very of the distant metastase. The incidence of this tumor in the first year of the transpIant is uncommon and the same occurs with the non-immune deflciency peopie. We have not found any case report on the revision of the literature between heart transpiantation and squamous carcinoma of the tonsil.
