23 specimens from cervical conization were submitted for histological examination and macroscopic and microscopic planimetry. A mapping of all cases was done. A total of 514 sections were studied. From 15 to 28 section (na average of 22,34) were obtained from each specimen. Sections varied from 0,1 to 0,4 cm in thickness. Serial step histological sections were stained by haematoxylin and eosin. Displastic and neoplastic of the squamous epitheliun werw observed.The latter included intraepithelial carcinoma, intraepithelial carcinoma with doubtful stromal invasion, intraepithelial carcinoma with early stromal invasion, microinvasive carcinoma and invasive carcinoma. Lesions were measured and mapped down on the macroscopic drawings. A mathematical conversion index was used to correct distortions due to Processing of the specimens and to secure that the measurements of the histological lesions corresponded, to the greatest possible degree to the ones in the original fresh specimens. Definite different results were obtained with and without the use of the conversion index. Lesions were confined to the external orifice in 10 cases. A predominance in the ectocervix and endocervix was seen in 4 and 5 cases, respectively. Whole endocervix lesions were found in 4 cases. This last finding is remarkable for its rather high incidence.
