Cancer may be treated by oncologic surgery, radiumtherapy, cryosurgery, immunotherapy and chemotherapy. There is a increasing use of radiations in the therapy, alone or combined with other methods, in the pre or post-operative periods. The authors recall the importance of the dentist, especialized in maxillofacial prosthesis, to work dose with the staff of the radiumtherapy department, as he may help to solve a lot of problems maving sppliances which wili serve to orient the radiations, protect and retract the healthy tissues, through the irradiation prosthesis. Aiming to familiarize the dentist with the terms employed, the authors present a glossary of the basic words in radiumtherapy.
