Evaluation of Data Quality on Information System for Cervical Cancer in Vitoria – ES, Brazil

Abstract

Introduction: The Information System for Cervical Cancer (SISCOLO) is a computerized system that allows evaluation and planning of good performance of actions for cervical cancer control. Objective: To evaluate accessibility, opportunity and completeness as criteria of information quality in SISCOLO . Method: Descriptive and exploratory study of secondary data analysis from women population undergoing cytopathological exams in the Health System, in the city of Vitoria – ES . Data come from SISCOLO , referring to the period from January to December, 2007, supplied by the City Coordination for the “Viva Mulher” Program. The SPPS v 15.0 software was used for statistical analyses. Results: SISCOLO is a system that has limited accessibility, with opportunity (time from samples collection until final results) ranging from 15 to 45 days. Completeness of attributes was excellent to the topics “have done previous preventive exam” and “suitability of samples”; good for “year of last preventive exam” and bad for education and all attributes regarding anamnesis and cervix inspection (requisition for cytophatological exam – cervix). Conclusion: SISCOLO has shown accessibility, opportunity and problems regarding completeness, mainly for epidemiological data.
