Resumo

O presente estudo visa oferecer ao leitor uma posição atualizada sobre os efeitos carcinogênicos de baixas doses de radiação sobre populações humanas submetidas à radiação de natureza médica, seja de caráter diagnóstico, terapêutico ou ocupacional. Os dados apresentados se baseiam nos clássicos estudos de Court Brown, Doll e Stewart. Os resultados desses estudos possibilitam o estabelecimento de uma relação entre dose recebida e efeito observado, a qual pode ser representada graficamente através de curvas de aspecto linear, supralinear e infralinear.
