Dental care in prevention and treatment of osteoradionecrosis: literature review

Osteoradionecrosis is a serious complication resulting of head and neck radiotheraphy. This article focus on its physiopathology, main predisposing factors, clinical and radiographic characteristics, besides the discussion on how to prevent it. In addition, it highlights the osteoradionecrosis traditional treatments and future perspectives, on the matter emphasizing the importance of the participation of the dentist in the multidisciplinary oncologic team.
