Abstract

Axiliar dissection and conservative treatment of breast cancer are discussed after evaluation of 148 patients referred to Centro de Oncologia Campinas. Only half of the patients underwent axiliar dissection. The real need of this surgical procedure must be very well discussed, patien by patient, as treatment results could be the same without this step in surgery. Surgical risks, among other data, is evaluated, as well as chances of improving general prognosis in breast cancer patients.
