Abstract

The authors descríbe the psychological care given to the families at the Pediatria Oncology of the Instituto Nacional de Câncer, Rio de Janeiro. The scientific advances in all medical areas led to a considerable increase in life span. Psychological care tries to face the psychological responses raised up during diagnosis and the treatment process improving the quality of this survival.
