Needle biopsy by aspiration in hepatic lesions was evaluated; the authors comment the use of Chiba's needle as a better instrument than Menghini's needle, mainly in left lobe lesions, some otherwise inaccessible right lobe lesions, as weii as in ascitic patients and in those with cholestasis and highly vascular lesions. Success in histologic diagnosis ranged 84%.
