Abstract

There are large numbers of tumor-associated markers that can be immunologically detected and are under active evaluation for their applicability in the diagnosis and management of cancer. The principal agents used for human breast cancer are steroid hormone receptor and surface antigens specifically associated with tumor cells. To predict hormone dependency with accuracy, the analysis of Estradiol and Progesterone receptors (Es, PgR) is suggested. The authors stress the need of well Studied Standard Carcinoembrionic Antigen (CEA) levels as monitoring tools to evaluate the results of therapy.
