The author, after some considerations about terminology of uterine cervical epithelial neoplasia (dysplasia, carcinoma “in situ” and invasive carcinoma), recommends cyto-oncotic classification of cervico-vaginal smears based upon the morfologic separation of the neoplastic cells and discusses the cyto-histopathologic correlation.
