Making use of the great number of cases seen and followed for several years at the "Serviço Nacional de Câncer'', the authors study with great detail the tumors of the jaw. The subject is studied with special care, regarding the clinical point of view and also under Pathological control After considering the ethiology of jaw tumors, their clinical aspect and the usual means of diagnosis, and trreatuicnt, they bring forth a classification wich totaly incloses all jaw growths known to exist. By this a methodical study of theses tumors is layed out. Strating from tumors developing from thoot germs, they go on to tumors of the mesenchyme, mycloplaxoma, myeloma, secondary or metastatic tumors. Afterwords they study osteitis fibrosa, osteomyelitis, leontiasis and syphilis wich many times, when located on the jaw show clinical signs of true growths. Need of knowledge ou tooth embryology is stressed for a better understanding of dental tumors and anomalies. Following this, each type of jaw tumors is studied separately and a valuable documentary is given not only as to the clínical, but also as to the radiological and pathological point of view. One of the most interesting facts in this pper is the treatment of jaw turnos by eletrocoagulation, the so called Kroeff technic. The coagulated bone segment is left in place and later on, after as average of eight weeks, it is eliminated leaving a bridge of librous tissue wich will afterwords ossity, recovering the bone loss, produced by the cliuiination of destroyed bone. Pages 50 e 51. This method was considered by several authors as a new achievement wich could only be done by eletrosurgery. This type of surgery is used by the authors ou the majorty of their primary or secondary jaw tumors.
