The autor explains that with the progress of tboracic surgery the pulmonary function test bave a very great importance, in the pre and postoperatory of pulmonary cancer surgery. They are methodicaly made and rigorously studied, and so the surgeon can stablisb the urgency of surgery, and give him the ventilatory capacities of tbe patient and wether he sbould or not go on to surgery. The autor gives a description of the funcional tests make in the National Institute of Câncer, gives the best taxes of spyrografic volumes, and radilogic aspects wich give great security in the preoperatory time of thoracic surgery. Finishing he gives notions of respiratory cynesiotherapy for the recuperation of patients with diminutions of ventilatory taxes, in the pre or postoperative period or patients with pulmonary resections.
