Abstract

The present article addresses the complexity of tumors in the central nervous system (CNS) in children and adolescents, highlighting the significant impact on the National Health System (SUS). It addresses the epidemiology of those tumors in Brazil, the lack of hospital beds in the Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) and the concentration of specialized centers in the richest Regions of the country. The text discusses the need for early diagnosis, the importance of training health teams and the need for public policies that improve access to treatments and support affected families. Moreover, the article explores the perspective of using new technologies to improve planning and resource allocation in SUS.
