Abstract

An immunohistocheical study for the presence of neuron-specific enolase (NSE), alfa- 1-antitrypsin (AAT) and alfa-1-antichymotrypsin (AAQT) in germ cell tumor of the ovary was reaiized. The immunohistochemical stains were performed on para ffin-embedded tissue of seven dysgerminomas, three endodermal sinus tumors, three imature teratomas and um choriocarcinoma. NSE reactivity was identified in all tumors except choriocarcinoma. All histologic types of tumors showed positive reactions for AAT e MOT. This data indicates that NSE, AAT e AAQT may be tumor markers for germ cell tumors of the ovary.
