Poliquimioterapia Versus Monoquimioterapia no Câncer Avançado de Cabeça e Pescoço

At the "Departamento de Cirurgia de Cabeça e Pescoço da Fundação Antonio Prudente", São Paulo, Brasil, the clinical trial as a comparative method between different therapeutic methods has been used. Therefore, we present the results obtained through the use of poly and monochemotherapy in advanced cancer of the head and neck. Thus permits us to conclude the foliowing: 1) The validity of the use of mono and polychemotherapy as a paliative in advanced cancer of the head and neck, excluding surgical and radiotherapeutic possibilities. 2) There was no difíerence shown in the objective results (reduction of the largest lesion or equal than 50%), obtained with polychemotherapy (22,70%) and mono chemotherapy (20,00%). 3) There was a distinct advantage of polychemotherapy (50,00%) in relation to monochemotherapy (3,00°/o) concerns subjective results (increase in weight, appetite, general conditions). 4) There was no difference in the occurence of implications foliowing the use of chemotherapy between the 2 groups.
