O autor procedeu a uma revisão sobre Marcadores Tumorais em Gastrenterologia. O relato enfatiza a utilidade e relatividade dessa metodologia quanto ao diagnóstico e prognóstico de alguns neoplasmas malignos (especialmente: carcinoma hepatocelular, adenocarcinoma de pâncreas e do cólon) do tracto digestivo. Outrossim, tais marcadores adquirem valor proeminente sobremaneira entre os grupos-de-risco conhecidos (entre os quais: cirróticos e portadores de hepatite crônica ativa ou do vírus B); nestes grupos, dentre outros métodos, eventualmente a dosagem de AFP, por exemplo, podería ser muito importante quanto ao rastreamento do CMC. Marcadores recém-desenvolvidos a partir de anticorpos monoclonais, atualmente em Investigação, são igualmente objeto de análise.
