Medicina Integradora en el Tratamiento Oncológico

A pesar de los avances en el tratamiento oncológico, el cáncer continúa siendo una enfermedad grave y debilitadora, con tratamientos que dejan secuelas físicas y emocionales. La medicina integradora surgió como un enfoque para proporcionar un cuidado más amplio y centrado en el paciente. Reconocida oficialmente en 1962 y fortalecida con aliados internacionales, como la American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), la medicina integradora combina terapias convencionales y prácticas complementarias basadas en evidencias. Esta enfatiza la relación entre médico y paciente, el autocuidado y estilos de vida saludables, buscando mejorar la calidad de vida y los resultados clínicos. En los Estados Unidos, más de 50 hospitales adoptan este enfoque, integrando prácticas como yoga, meditación, nutrición y acupuntura en el manejo de síntomas comunes del cáncer, como cansancio, dolor, ansiedades y depresión. La medicina integradora no substituye al tratamiento convencional, pero sí ofrece un soporte adicional, promoviendo una atención más completa y humanizada.
