Desafios e Estratégias no Enfrentamento da Pandemia de Covid-19 em Oncologia Pediátrica: Lições Aprendidas

O câncer infantojuvenil é uma doença potencialmente curável. A pandemia ocasionada pelo vírus SARS-CoV-2 a partir do ano 2020 trouxe um desafio ainda maior ao sistema de saúde. A equipe da oncologia pediátrica do Instituto Nacional de Câncer (INCA) traçou estratégias a serem adotadas pelo serviço, embasadas por discussões internas com toda a equipe e orientações do setor de infecção hospitalar do INCA. No caso da oncologia pediátrica do INCA, foi implementada uma nova estrutura para enfrentar os desafios com base nos seguintes pilares: reorganização do atendimento ambulatorial, reestruturação das internações hospitalares, manutenção do tratamento oncológico e controle da adesão ao tratamento oncológico. Passada a pandemia de covid-19, faz-se necessária uma reflexão sobre os desafios enfrentados e as oportunidades que surgiram, mas que trouxe tantos ensinamentos para todos. O trabalho em equipe multidisciplinar, a interação interpessoal e a comunicação eficaz entre as equipes foram fundamentais para superar os obstáculos e fortalecer a assistência à saúde.
